HUGE Endorsement Announcement!

May 16, 2012 @ 05:06:19

I am very excited to announce the support of over 40 East Texas Republican leaders, ranging from State Republican Executive Committee members to county and precinct chairs to organization leaders.

The list of supporters includes over 80% of all district precinct chairs and over 90% of all precinct chairs who would consider making an endorsement in this race. Also, as we previously released, this list includes the unanimous support of all Upshur County precinct chairs.

As I've gone around the district, talking with literally thousands of voters one-on-one, it's clear that the people of East Texas are tired of "go along to get along" politics. East Texans want strong conservative leadership for our values...then they want the government to get out of the way of freedom and responsibility

But, Mr. Merritt spent 14 years opposing our East Texas conservative values. That’s why we fired Tommy Merritt two years ago.

Tommy is running again, but here's your chance to tell Tommy, "Thanks, but no thanks!" Watch our campaign video here and then share it with your friends, asking them to vote early!

Here's what some of our local Republican leaders had to say:

“David is the only conservative candidate in the race. His opponent’s voting record has been very liberal.”
- Smith County GOP Chairman Ashton Oravetz

“David Simpson has proven himself to be a champion of conservative values and common sense government. David’s leadership and willingness to serve the people are qualities that are so desperately needed in government today.”
- Senate District 1 State Republican Executive Committeewoman Brenda Patterson

“David Simpson is exactly who we need in Austin representing District 7. He is a Christian man with Godly values. His integrity and willingness to serve are unmatched by anyone in our district. If we had more men like David in office our country would not be in the shape it is in. I endorse David Simpson for another term as our Sate Representative.”
- Recent Gregg County Precinct 4 Chairman Randy Hufstetler

Happy Mother's Day!

May 13, 2012 @ 06:34:50

Happy Mother's Day!

Motherhood is about life — precious human life made in the image of God. Psalm 139 speaks about us being “knit together in our mother’s womb.” Our life began in our mother’s womb where we grew, matured, and were nurtured prior to even our birth. Perhaps it is because of this that there is such special bond between mother and child.

May the Lord bless you today as you honor your mother and ponder what God has done to give us life.

Early voting starts tomorrow! Monday, May 14

For immediate release – May 11, 2012

NATIONAL RIFLE ASSOCIATION POLITICAL VICTORY FUND
STANDS WITH REPRESENTATIVE DAVID SIMPSON

(Longview) – Representative David Simpson (R-Longview) today announced the support of the National Rifle Association Political Victory Fund (NRA) in his bid for re-election to the Texas House, District 7.

“NRA is proud to endorse State Representative David Simpson for re-election to the Texas House. As a life member of the NRA and Concealed Handgun Licensee, David Simpson knows firsthand the importance of protecting the Second Amendment and preserving our right to self-defense. And his record in the Texas House demonstrates his strong commitment to both," said Tara Reilly Mica, state liaison for the NRA - Institute for Legislative Action.

Rep. Simpson responded, “I am very grateful for the support of both the NRA and the Texas State Rifle Association. The Second Amendment is a very important safeguard to our freedoms. In Texas, we proudly ‘cling to our guns.’”

The Texas State Rifle Association has also endorsed Rep. Simpson, rating him one of just nine House candidates worthy of an A+ voting record.

Representative Simpson defeated 14-year incumbent Tommy Merritt in the 2010 primary by running on a platform of defending the Constitution, preserving East Texas family values, and restoring government to its proper, limited role. In only one session, Simpson earned the “Taxpayer Champion” award from Texans for Fiscal Responsibility and the “Freshman of the Year” award from Young Conservatives of Texas; he was also named “Co-MVP of the Freshman Class” by Capitol Inside for his effectiveness as a legislator.

(Longview) – Today Representative David Simpson (R-Longview) announced the support of the Texas State Rifle Association PAC (TSRA) in his bid for re-election to the Texas House, District 7.

“Texas gun owners, hunters, and concealed handgun licensees are in your debt,” said Alice Tripp, Legislative Director for the Texas State Rifle Association PAC, of Rep. Simpson. “Our 40,000 plus members could not have a better friend in the Texas House than Rep. David Simpson.”

Rep. Simpson was one of just nine candidates for the Texas House to receive an A+ rating from the TSRA (www.tsrapac.com).

Rep. Simpson responded, “The Second Amendment and the right to self-defense are very important issues for East Texans and I am proud to have one of the highest ratings in the state defending our right to keep and bear arms.”

Campaign progress report

May 03, 2012 @ 06:15:03

So much is happening that I wanted to give you a progress report on our campaign that you can share with your friends!

Contributions show incredible grassroots support!

A very big thank you to the more than 550 supporters who have contributed to our campaign. This is a team effort, and we're very blessed to have hundreds of you who have contributed.

There is still a lot left to do, though! Will you consider contributing $25, $100, $250, or whatever amount you are able to give for the cause of liberty in Texas?
(Checks can also be mailed to David Simpson Campaign, POB 5100, Longview, TX 75605.)

The choice is clear: Conservative Principles vs.
Big Government "Republicanism"

The Longview News-Journal / Longview Chamber of Commerce candidate forum Tuesday evening made one thing very clear...again. There is a fundamental difference between my opponent and I, and that is our belief about the role of government.

Mr. Merritt believes that more government can solve our problems. I believe, however, with President Ronald Reagan that government is not the solution to our problems. Right now, government IS the problem!

I want to bring less government back to the district!

When I go door to door talking with you, the voters. I don't hear you asking for taxpayer handouts to big corporations. I don't hear you asking us to pass more regulations that burden small business and kill jobs. I hear you asking for low taxes, smaller government, and more freedom!

Join my team and go door to door with me to talk with voters! (click here)

Pro-Life endorsed!

Texas Alliance for Life PAC endorsed our campaign today! This makes the second major pro-life endorsement, along with Texas Right to Life PAC.

Rep. David Simpson proved himself an unequivocal pro-life leader in his first session, said Joe Pojman, Ph.D., Executive Director of TAL PAC.

“Starting with the first bill he filed, which would stop taxpayer subsidies to the abortion industry, and then with vote after vote on the floor, Rep. Simpson demonstrated an unwavering dedication to protecting innocent human life.”

District 7 took a big step forward in the defense of life when they elected David Simpson, a true champion of our pro-life values. That’s why Texas Alliance for Life PAC was proud to endorse Rep. Simpson when he first ran and we’re proud to stand with him again in 2012,” continued Dr. Pojman.

The Texas Tribune asked political experts and observers from around Texas, and they predicted what we in East Texas already know....we are winning this race.

Hundreds of you have already shown your support with yard signs, endorsements, contributions, and your volunteer efforts on the campaign. With your continued strong support and telling your friends about our campaign, we'll make sure that these predictions come true on May 29.
